Local Plan Evidence

When updating the local plan we have to ensure it is underpinned by relevant and up-to-date evidence. The government asks that it be adequate and proportionate, focused tightly on supporting and justifying the policies concerned, and take into account relevant market signals.

Our evidence library is available here. Please note this is a live list of published evidence studies and new studies will be added to it over the next 18 months. Key evidence being commissioned in 2024/25 include:

  • Local Plan Viability Assessment
  • Infrastructure Delivery Plan
  • Water Cycle Study
  • Strategic Flood Risk Assessments
  • Strategic Housing and Economic Impact Assessment (update)
  • Cotswold Design Code
  • Habitat Regulations Assessment

Integrated Impact Assessment

Local plans are required to be informed throughout their preparation by a sustainability appraisal (we have called our an Integrated Impact Assessment).

This shows how the plan has addressed relevant economic, social and environmental objectives. Significant adverse impacts on these objectives should be avoided and, wherever possible, alternative options which reduce or eliminate such impacts should be pursued. Where significant adverse impacts are unavoidable, suitable mitigation measures should be proposed (or, where this is not possible, compensatory measures should be considered).

We invite you to read and comment on the emerging Integrated Impact Assessment and the supporting points of the compass appraisal (Main report available from Friday 9th February 2024).
